Foro confirms SBS suppression technique for sending laser light down long lengths of fiber. Foro optimizes their laser-mechanical drilling process in lab environment, as well as designed the 1st high power laser hardware for power transmission.

Foro Energy awarded largest grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, $9.1MM ARPA-E Award. The project’s focus is to develop a high power laser drilling system for use in Geothermal.

Mr. Deutch was an advisor to the company in January 2009 and joined full time in April 2010. He has more than 20 years experience working in the Oilfield Service Industry in a variety of operational and technical roles both domestic and internationally. Most recently, Paul was the Managing Director of Diamant Drilling Services, a global drilling services company and Executive Vice President of Logan International an oilfield service portfolio company of Cadent Energy Partners where he was as an Executive in Residence.
Previously, Mr. Deutch served as President of Flotek Industries where he was responsible for the international business of their three operating segments: Chemicals and Logistics, Drilling Products, and Artificial Lift. Prior he was Vice President and CTO of Science Applications International Corporation's (SAIC) Upstream Oil & Gas Commercial Business Services group where he led their Digital Oilfield consulting and systems integration practice.
Mr. Deutch began his career as a field engineer with Schlumberger where he spent 13 years in various management roles including field testing and launching the Combinable Magnetic Resonance Logging Tool, heading Norway operations, and serving as the Global Program Manager of Network & Infrastructure Services.
Mr. Deutch holds a degree in Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Colby College.
Scott Marshall is the Vice President Operations for Foro Energy, where since 2011 he has served as a Program Manager, Product Champion, and most recently Global Decommissioning Manager. Mr. Marshall has been developing new material removal processes and tools using Foro Energy’s proprietary laser cutting technology. These advances in laser material removal applications will be utilized in a wide range of offshore and onshore tools which will be implemented in Decommissioning / Plug and Abandonment programs worldwide.
Mr. Marshall has been involved in the oilfield service industry for 15 years in a variety of operational, technical and service roles. Prior to joining Foro Energy, Mr. Marshall was a Project Manager for Ocean Subsea Services, Norse Cutting (NCA) and Oceaneering, where he was responsible for the planning and execution of subsea and surface tooling utilized in conductor and platform removal campaigns.
Mr. Marshall holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University.
James Christiansen is the Manager of operations in Bakersfield California. He started with Foro in 2015, and led the establishment of the Bakersfield operation in 2016. James leads an effective team of diverse employees with a wide range of skills.
Mr. Christiansen started his oilfield career with Computalog Wireline in Hobbs, New Mexico and worked throughout the world as a wireline engineer, and later as a technical specialist for Formation Sampling and Testing, with Weatherford Wireline.
Mr. Christiansen has a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Tarleton State University.
Glenn Neslony joined Foro Energy as Vice President of Finance in May 2023.
Mr. Neslony has over 30 years of corporate accounting and finance experience. Over the past two years he has held Controller and Treasury Director positions within the Industrial Supplies and Transportation industries, respectively. His most recent Energy industry experience was serving as a Director of Finance at Drilling Tools International, Inc. from 2014 through 2021, where he was responsible for the corporate accounting and treasury functions of the company.
Mr. Neslony holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi and is a licensed CPA in the State of Texas.
Cory Ogle is the manager of land decommissioning operations in the state of Colorado. In 2016, he began his career with Foro Energy in California as a Field Technician, operating a 20kW laser on the company's first mobile laser cutting unit (MLCU). He later assumed the role of laser operations supervisor, for which he was responsible for the leadership of multiple MLCU's, and their crews. During his tenure since 2016, he has worked on special projects in the Gulf of Thailand, and in Colorado. The Colorado land decommissioning special project, resulted in the creation of an additional permanent base of operations in June 2023.
Mr. Ogle has 17 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning at Schlumberger wireline services. During his 10 year tenure at Schlumberger, he served as a completions field specialist, for which he was in charge of multiple service crews, as well as managing the technical logistics for a variety of wireline services.
From January 1st, 2009, until August 2010 John served as the Chief Executive Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Smith International Inc. John joined Smith International in 2008 as the Executive Vice President and President of Smith Completions and Production Services following the successful acquisition of WH Energy.
John was elected to Smith’s Board of Directors in 2006 and remained on the board until the sale of Smith to Schlumberger in August 2010. As the CEO of Smith International John led the negotiations with Schlumberger and then played a key role in the extensive pre-merger integration planning process.
Before joining Smith, John spent 27 years with Schlumberger, Ltd. His roles within Schlumberger included numerous operating management and staff positions throughout Latin America, Europe, North Africa, and North America. Between 1998 and 2006, John served as the President of Dowell, the Marketing Director for Schlumberger Oilfield Services, the Finance Director for WesternGeco, the Controller for Schlumberger Oilfield Services, and the President of North and South America, Oilfield Services.
Mr. Yearwood received a Bachelors of Science Honors Degree in Geology and the Environment from Oxford Brookes University, England.
Mr. Yearwood serves as the Lead Director on the Board of Directors of Nabors Industries Ltd., as well as an Independent Director on the boards of NFR Energy, Sheridan Production Partners, Barra Energia, Composite Energy, and Foro Energy. John is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Faysal Sohail became a venture investor in 2002 after seventeen years of experience as an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. He has led several investments in technology and energy space including robotics, information security, energy, semiconductors and software.
Before joining Presidio Partners and its predecessor funds, he helped build three companies in the Valley, which became successful either via IPO or M&A, including Cadabra Design Automation, which was acquired by Numerical Technologies (NMTC/SNPS). Silicon Architects (merged with Synopsys; SNPS) and Actel Corporation (ACTL). Faysal combines his technology and start-up experience to help entrepreneurs build companies that make a significant impact.
Faysal holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Computer Engineering where he served on the College of Engineering Advisory Board. Faysal is committed to education and has served on the board of Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) for 10 years, seven as Chairman. Faysal is a guest lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business as well as U.C. Berkeley on global entrepreneurship and venture capital. He is also an avid car racing enthusiast and eagerly frequents the various California raceways and back roads, looking to shave seconds off his lap times.
Jeffrey A. Harris founded Global Reserve Group, LLC in 2012 to advise and invest in energy and technology companies. Previously, he spent twenty-nine years at Warburg Pincus LLC. During his career at Warburg Pincus, Mr. Harris invested in and advised companies in the industrial, consumer, technology and energy sectors. He has served on the board of directors of over thirty companies, including twelve publicly-traded entities. He is past chairman of the National Venture Capital Association. Currently, he is Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Cranbrook Educational Community, a member of the Board of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and a member of the Finance Committee of The Friends of the High Line in New York City. In addition,
Mr. Harris is an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business where he teaches courses on venture capital, and entrepreneurship and innovation.
Mr. Harris has a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. In January 2012 Palgrave Macmillan published his book: Transformative Entrepreneurs: How Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Muhammad Yunus and Other Innovators Succeeded.

Bill Burgess is a Partner with North Bridge Venture Partners. Previously he was Managing Partner of ABS Ventures. Bill has worked closely with emerging growth technology companies as an investor and adviser throughout his career. Prior to venture capital, Bill advised technology companies for two decades in matters of corporate finance and M&A primarily at Alex. Brown & Sons and subsequently at Deutsche Bank where he held several management positions including Vice Chairman of Global Corporate Finance and Head of DB Venture Partners.
Bill has deep experience on boards of public and private corporations as well as not-for-profit organizations. He currently serves as a board member of Actifio, Salsify and 1366 among for-profit corporations. In addition, Bill serves on the boards of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences (Treasurer), Dartmouth College (Vice Chair), Issue One (Executive Committee) and St. Mark’s School (Past Chair and current Campaign Chair). Bill chaired the board of The New England Aquarium for a decade through 2013. Leadership duties have included Finance, Advancement, Capital Campaign, Executive Search and Strategic Planning.
He holds a BA from Dartmouth and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Krupke is an expert in the design, build, and application of the most advanced and highest power laser systems, enabled by his leadership roles at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and current strategic consultancy to high power laser technology companies, including as a Director of IPG Photonics (NASDAQ:IPGP).
Dr. Krupke co-founded the Laser Directorate at LLNL in 1972, the organization responsible for the development and execution of the Laboratory's Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) and Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope Separation (AVLIS) national R&D programs. During his 27 years there, Bill variously served as Program Leader, Chief Scientist, and finally Deputy Associate Director for 20 years.
Prior to his LLNL service, he held technical and management positions at the Hughes Aircraft Company, Minneapolis Honeywell Company, and the Aerospace Corporation.
Dr. Krupke holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Brian Faircloth is Chief Operating Officer at Nuburu.
Previously, Mr. Faircloth was CTO of Foro Energy and Director of Business Development and Product Line Manager for High Power Laser Systems and Components at Coherent and Vice President of Operations of Nuvonyx and Nuvonyx Europe. In each of these roles, he implemented and managed a stage gate product development process including R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing. Product launches included high power laser diodes, systems, and pump arrays with manufacturing volumes exceeding tens of thousands of components annually and recognition from leaders such as Raytheon as Supplier of the Year.
Mr. Faircloth started his career in optical and mechanical design roles following technical roots in nanolithography, plasma processing, and generally semiconductor processing.
Mr. Faircloth holds a B.S. in Nuclear Physics from Tennessee Technological University, a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s in Business Management and Marketing from Tulane University.
